Bishop Jonathan G. Willis

Bishop Jonathan G. Willis was raised in the Hampton Roads area. He knew at an early age that there was an anointing on his life, and he was destined to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was licensed as a minister at the age of 15 and ordained as an Elder at the age of 20. He has served in various capacities on the local, district, and jurisdictional levels of the Church of God in Christ. Additionally, he is a graduate of Norfolk Theological Seminary.

On August 31, 2004, Bishop Willis assumed the role of pastor at Prayer of Faith Temple – Zion City West in Lynchburg, Virginia. Since becoming the pastor of Prayer of Faith Temple, he has become a significant influence in the city. Bishop Willis is a dedicated advocate for civic engagement, having initiated various programs that have enhanced the community. Notably, the “Season of Giving” campaign, an annual endeavor, reaches over 1,000 families in Lynchburg annually. Through his innovative approaches and passion for soul outreach, Bishop Willis has collaborated with entities such as the City Council, Lynchburg City School System, Living Healthy Lynchburg, and the community–at–large to meet the needs of God’s people.

In August of 2009, at the age of 29, he was appointed an Administrative Assistant to Bishop Levi E. Willis II overseeing the Dominion Region of the Virginia Third Jurisdiction.

On October 2, 2022, following the retirement of his father, the late Bishop Levi E. Willis II, Bishop Willis was appointed pastor at the Garden of Prayer Temple – Zion City East in Norfolk, Virginia. In April 2023, after his father’s passing, Dr. Jonathan G. Willis was appointed Bishop-Designate of the Virginia Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction during the COGIC April Call Meeting in Memphis, Tennessee. He was consecrated to the office of Jurisdictional Prelate in November 2023 at the COGIC International Holy Convocation in Memphis, Tennessee.

Bishop Willis has proven to be an innovative and strategic visionary, who expands the spiritual and physical footprint of the ministries he leads and the lives of those he covers. Through his anointed preaching and teaching of God’s Holy Word, many souls have been saved, and lives have been profoundly impacted and changed.

Additionally, Bishop Willis is a recording artist who released his debut album entitled, The Zion City Experience. Through his music ministry he has been able to touch the hearts of listeners across the country, while spreading his love for worship through song.

Bishop Willis is married to the beautiful Felicia Dixon Willis. He has four children, Niyah, Jonathan II, Jami, and Journi.
